Girl's Crochet Bag

I don't think I've got the ''bag bug'', although many ideas are flowing in.
This smaller version of the previous one, is designed for a young girl. The charm dangle has a butterfly and blue glass hearts, as well as stone beads in matching colours of the yarn.
The lining, with zipper closure is ming blue floral - a tiny granny print, with a different blue floral, side pocket.

  1. Hi Shirley,

I would love to have the pattern for this bag. It would be a perfect gift for my grand-daughter.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi Quinzilla ..... Thanks for visiting and the enquiry. Unfortunately, I don't have a pattern to give you. The crochet stitches are designed as I go .... pretty much made up as I'm working - which involves unpicking, to get it right. Each project, when it's done, is usually a one off original. I gave this one also as a birthday gift. :) .... Shirley.

  5. Hi Shirley Ann! Nice job on the bag! I was just wondering how you put the zipper in. Care to share?

  6. Hi Marie .... The zipper was the trickiest part ! I went to the bag shop and examined similar styles to get ideas on how to do it. Before stitching the sides of the lining, when both pieces can be layed flat, turn a wide hem and stitch in the zip, by machine. The lining has the wrong side of fabric facing outwards before inserting it into the crochet bag, where it is slip stitched by hand to the crochet..... best wishes, Shirley.

  7. This is so pretty! I'm so glad to have found your blog. I have fallen in love with granny squares, and want to incorporate them into everything! I read your earlier comment - that you didn't use a pattern - but I'm wondering if you or any readers/followers would know of one that is similar?? It would be just perfect for a pillow I am dreaming up.
    Thanks!
And P.S. Thanks for your tips on adding the zipper to your bag!
