Red Crochet Poncho

There's something about crochet in red that's really very pretty.  Each time red is used, I think this, but forget and remember it anew when choosing the colour again.  This little poncho will fit a 2 to 3 year old.  Worked in 8 ply acrylic yarn, lightweight and machine washable.  A fun and cosy addition to a tiny tots wardrobe.

  1. Please, is there a pattern for this red poncho? I love it and would like to make it for my granddaughter. Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Crochet Queen,
Thank you for your interest in the little poncho. I don't have a pattern for it and would have to write one, as it's my own original design. At present, life is rather busy and pattern writing is very time consuming.
A similar one could be made with a traditional square measuring 3.1/2" ( 8.5cm ) - 4 rounds of 3 tr groups with 1ch in-between, 8 squares each side, joined with the last crochet round or sewn together.
1 row DC around the neck then a round of 2ch loops, DC into each second DC.
This is for the drawstring which is 36" single chain. Lower edge is 2 rows of 3tr groups separated by 1ch. At the corners of each square, where they are joined, do 2tr 1ch then 2tr into next corner - makes edge lay straight.
Fringe is 4 strands, doubled - into each 1ch space.
